Mary Jane Hartel

Mary Jane Hartel, age 71, of Havre de Grace, MD passed away on April 1, 2016 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Brady Elmore and Charlotte Marie (deKowzan) Ferguson. She graduated from Dundalk High School and received her AA degree in nursing from Harford Community College. Sometimes known to friends as "Hatzi" and "Ferg," she was a nurse for over 30 years. Over this time she worked at Franklin Square Hospital, Fallston General Hospital, and then at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, where she retired. She also worked for the Visiting Nurses Association. She was a member of the Dundalk JayCees and loved to play Bingo, was an exceptional seamstress, great cook, loving person, amazing mother, friend, and a great listener.

Mrs. Hartel is survived by her sons, Brady Hartel of Havre de Grace and Robert Ferguson and his wife, Tia, of Havre de Grace; daughter, Shawna Gerst and her husband, Don, of Dundalk; brother, Dana Ferguson of Parkville; sister, Julia Shinnick of Dundalk; and grandchildren, Kelly Ferguson of Churchville, Alycia Roberts of Edgewood, Christina Ferguson of Bel Air, and Jesse Harrah, Carly and Brent Morrison, all of Dundalk; and great grandson, Derrick Roberts of Edgewood.
