Mary Grace Smith

Mary Grace Smith (Gettings), age 89, of Bel Air, Maryland went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 20, 2022.

A lifetime resident of Harford County, Mary Grace graduated from the State Teachers College at Towson in 1955 and pursued her career as a teacher in the Harford County Public School system for 30 years. Most of her years as an educator were spent at Homestead Elementary School in Bel Air. She was a member of the professional society Delta Kappa Gamma.

After her retirement, she enjoyed many activities including gardening, knitting, genealogy and watching her grandchildren grow. She and her husband Charles also enjoyed the antique car hobby and participated in car shows and tours where they made numerous lifelong friends. They were the founders of the VMCCA Upper Chesapeake Chapter where she served as a national officer.

She is survived by Charles, her beloved husband of 67 years, her daughter Jacqueline Barbieri (Smith) and husband Dominic, her granddaughter Michelle Lino (Barbieri) and husband Kevin, her grandson Nicholas Barbieri and wife Emily, and three great grandchildren Charles and Luciana Barbieri, and Eleni Grace Lino.

She was predeceased by her mother the late Carolyn Gettings (Bevard), her father the late George Gettings, and her sister the late Anne DeCourcey (Gettings).
