MARY FRANCES BLAKE PRESCOTT, age 89, of Bel Air, MD, died at University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore, MD on June 3, 2008. She was the most delightful and gifted story teller, cherished mother and wife, devoted friend, whose great humor and infectious laugh touched us all. She was born in Fairfield, AL, on September 22, 1918. She was the daughter of the late William Ballard Blake, Sr. and the late Sarah Frances Powers Blake and the wife, of 36 years, of the late George Leroy Prescott. She lived in Webster Village, Havre de Grace, MD from 1963 – 2000 and prior to that in Lake City, Florida for 13 years. She worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground for 13 years where she started her career at the Ordnance School and retired from Ballistic Research Laboratory (BRL) as an executive secretary for Lee Watermeir. During her time with the Government she received numerous awards and recognitions. She enjoyed gardening, needlework, reading, writing, and was involved in many charities. She was a very active member of St. James Episcopal Church, Lake City FL and later, Webster Congregational Church, Havre de Grace, MD. She was a member of the Lake City Gardening Club, the Lake City Women's Club, and the "Dirty Knees Club", a local gardening group in Havre de Grace, MD. She volunteered for Meal on Wheels, Harford County Chapter, where she was in charge of scheduling, as well as delivering meals to the many housebound.
Mrs. Prescott is survived by three daughters, Margaret Mae Prescott of Sonoma, CA; Elizabeth P. Wilson and her husband, Randle E. Wilson of Perryville, MD, and Frances Blake Preston and her husband, John Roger Keith Preston, of Havre de Grace, MD; three grandchildren, Kimberly A. Conner of Napa, CA, Veronica Blake Lezotte of Sonoma, CA, and Jennifer Sara Lezotte of Sonoma, CA; a step-grandson, Joshua D. Wilson of Aberdeen, MD; four great grandchildren, Nataly Conner of Napa, CA, Jacob Bollman of Sonoma, CA, Isabella Bollman of Sonoma, CA, and Tyler Lezotte-Deming of Sonoma, CA; a sister-in-law, Faye Blake of Montgomery, AL; and three cousins, Janet Pepinsky of Paoli, PA, Thomas B. Blake of Hayneville, AL, and James Blake of Montgomery, AL. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, George Robert Prescott, a brother, William B. Blake, Jr., and a sister, Elizabeth Ruffin Hooper.
