Mary “Elaine” Kendall, age 98, of Kingsville, Maryland passed away on February 1, 2023 at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium, Maryland. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of William and Marie (Peterson) Conroy and wife of the late John William Kendall. Elaine worked at Glen L. Martin during the war in the accounting office. After marrying the love of her life, John Kendall, they lived in NY for a year where she continued working in accounting. Back in Maryland, Elaine enjoyed being a homemaker in her new house and raising their two children, Glenn, and Kathy. She was a dedicated member of the Montebello Mothers' Club. Elaine was quite skilled at needlepoint and designing, sculpturing, and potting bonsai trees for sale and exhibition. She was a member of Baltimore-Washington Bonsai Club. One year for Christmas, her children bought her a schnauzer. Elaine named him Sir Lancelot because of his dignified beard and prance. Elaine and John loved that dog like a third child. After her husband John retired, they enjoyed traveling to the New England states, Williamsburg Virginia, their summer home in Delaware, Canada, and overseas to England, Ireland, and Scotland. Elaine was thrilled to become a grandmother in 1985 when Bradley was born. She loved to babysit and take him on adventures. Lastly, she was overjoyed to become a great grandmother with the arrival of Owen and Andrew. Elaine enjoyed spending time with her grandson and great grandchildren to whom she was affectionally known as “Granny” and “Great Granny”
Elaine is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Kendall East; son, Glenn William (Vella) Kendall; grandchildren, Bradley (Erica) East; great grandchildren, Owen Daniel East, and Andrew Evan East; sister, Grace E. Kotowski; and several nieces and nephews.
