Mary A. Brown, a beloved resident of Dundalk, Maryland, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2024, at Amazing Grace Assisted Living in Bel Air, Maryland, at the age of 80. She was born in the Canton neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late Charles and Catherine Czerwinski, and was the loving wife of the late Gordon Brown, Sr.
Mary led a fulfilling life, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and creativity. She dedicated 15 years of her career to Herman's Bakery as a skilled cake decorator, showcasing her artistic talents and bringing joy to many with her beautifully crafted confections. Prior to that, she spent a decade serving as a court clerk at the Baltimore City District Court and honing her skills as a seamstress at a dress shop in Highlandtown.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mary had a passion for crafting and creating. She enjoyed making jewelry, stained glass pieces, and various crafts, showcasing her artistic flair and attention to detail. Her love for collecting seashells and incorporating them into her crafts added a touch of natural beauty to her creations.
Mary's warm and giving nature extended to her family and friends, as she was always the one to decorate and bring delicious cakes to every family gathering and celebration. Her love and creativity were evident in every cake she made, leaving a lasting impression on all who tasted her creations.
As much as she cherished her family and friends, she always had a special place in her heart for animals, especially dogs. She had several pampered dogs of her own over the years, and often reminisced about tending to a litter of puppies.
Mary is survived by her devoted son, T. Gordon (Diane) Brown, Jr.; cherished grandchildren, Kirsten (Conor) Kennedy and Catherine (Emerson) Lyons; and dear friend, George Mavronis. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
In honor of Mary and love for the Bay, contributions may be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Attn: Membership Department, 6 Herndon Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21403, or online at www.cbf.org.
