MARY “BETTY” HANDY, age 69, of Edgewood, MD, died on January 6, 2007 at Lorien Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Bel Air, MD. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Walter Earl and Ethel Mae Carter Bond. She was a homemaker who loved to listen to country music, especially Elvis and collected memorabilia. She was an avid bowler, enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shakers and loved to travel, especially to the South. She was a member of the first Christian Church in Havre de Grace, MD.
Mrs. Handy is survived by her husband of 50 years, William Charles Handy, Sr., of Edgewood, MD; one son, William Charles Handy, Jr., of Roanoke, VA; three daughters, Karen Lynn Sonnhalter of Le Fors, TX, Sherry Dawn Van Klei of Edgewood, MD, and Pamela Christine Dillowe of Rising Sun, MD; two sisters, Erlene Stamper of Ocala, FL, and Norma Kyle of Bel Air, MD; seven grandchildren, Dawn Elizabeth Van Klei of Edgewood, MD, Tabitha Lynn Van Klei of Joppa, MD, Debi R. Sonnhalter of Richmond, VA, Christopher Lee Ramey and Steven Tyler Ramey, both of Rising Sun, MD, and Marissa Faith Handy and Justin Thomas Handy, both of Roanoke, VA; and three great grandchildren, Keone Rosario Jr., and Antonio M. Rosario, both of Edgewood, MD, and Autumn Coates of Joppa, MD. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Handy was predeceased by one great granddaughter Angelina Marie Rosario.
Pallbearers will be Everett L. Handy Jr., Edward Bowen Jr., Thomas Winkler, George W. Kyle Jr., Harvey G. Dillowe III, and Paul Sonnhalter.
