Mary Archer Phillips

Mary Archer Phillips, age 86, of Forest Hill, MD passed away on March 15, 2016 at her home. Born in Bel Air, MD on April 26, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Francis Trainor Archer and Alice Elizabeth (Monks) Archer. She was a homemaker and enjoyed time spent with her family. A woman of extraordinary faith, she was known as the sweetest person and loved by all who met her. She enjoyed birds, flowers and working puzzles. Mrs. Phillips was an active member of William Watters Memorial United Methodist Church where she served on many committees over the years, and was a member of the United Methodist Women.

Mary is survived by her husband of 66 years, Francis Sheffield Phillips; sons, Robert Phillips, David Phillips and wife, Patty; daughter, Lori Van Valkenburg and husband, Mark; sister, Lillian Scheppelmann and husband, Martin; grandchildren, Rachel Koziol and husband, Josh, Jesse Phillips, Michael Steinmiller, Samuel Van Valkenburg, Caitlin Phillips and Garrett Phillips; and one great-grandchild, Mackenzie Koziol. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Rhoda Abshire and husband, Harold, Adelaide Coale and husband, Hanson, Margaret Rutledge and husband, Wilbur and a brother, Winfield Archer and wife, Irene. She was also predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Patricia Wilson Phillips. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who meant the world to her.
