Mary Ann Manly, age 67, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on June 4, 2021 at Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center in Baltimore, Maryland. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Casey) McCormley and the wife of David Manly. Anyone who knew Mary Ann would tell you that she was the best: she spent her entire career as a nurse and embodied those characteristics. She was a natural caretaker, accepting of others, and deeply empathetic.
Mary Ann loved cooking for her family, whether it be her famous sprinkled Christmas cookies or chicken pot pie from scratch, and especially valued hosting a house full of people for any occasion. She was known for inviting those who couldn’t be with their own family for the holidays to join her table. She was a proud long-time member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, where she enjoyed the yearly Bull and Oyster Roast and Christmas Bazar and volunteered regularly with Care Food Ministries, feeding the needy of Harford County.
She had a zest for life and enjoyed pursuing many different passions. She was a skilled gardener, loved to travel, practiced yoga, and enjoyed sewing - she even hand-made her children’s Halloween costumes growing up. Her favorite place was Bethany Beach, where she and Dave split their time in their condo filled with family beach photos and oyster cans. She loved hard crabs and raw oysters.
In addition to her husband, Mary Ann is survived by her daughter, Katie (Christian) Kachel; son, Paul (Jennifer) Manly; two sisters, Patricia Howard and Kathleen Hardy; two grandsons, Brett and Christian Kachel; and granddaughter, Diana Kachel.
