Mary Ann K. Mcdermott

March 29, 1943 — April 2, 2015

Mary Ann K. McDermott, 72, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on April 2, 2015 at her home. Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Anthony Hund Jr. and Dorothy Catherine (Geier) Hund. It was there that she attended Catholic grade schools and graduated from a Catholic High School. Before she married the love of her life in 1964, Mary Ann traveled to Germany with her Grandmother to attend the ordination of a distant cousin. Later, Mary Ann became a stay-at-home Mom to raise six wonderful, successful children. After moving to Texas, she became heavily involved with the local parish and the local schools. Mary Ann served as the president of the Women's Club, a member of the Quilting Club and as a Eucharistic Minister of the parish. The Quilting Club produced multiple large (30' long x 20' wide) quilts that hung behind the altar in church. Mary Ann served the schools in both Pennsylvania and Texas by acting as a classroom aide and assisting lower grade children with their phonics and spelling.

After moving to Maryland, with the children raised and on their own, Mary Ann moved on to another phase of her life. She went back to school and earned an Associate's Degree in Interior Decorating. She later put this degree to work by performing several Interior Design commissions. Subsequently, she was employed by several legal firms and held several sales positions to include the liquidation of a large local department store chain. In later years, Mary Ann spent time with her husband enjoying their retirement and loved spending time with, and doting on, her grandchildren.

Mrs. McDermott is survived by her husband of 50 years, David P. McDermott Jr.; sons, David P. McDermott III and wife, Robin, John C. McDermott and wife, Lisa, and Michael W. McDermott and wife, Michele; daughters, Kathleen A. Wickliffe and husband, Jim, Joan M. Neff and husband, Lawrence, and Janet L. McDermott; brothers, Charles A. Hund III and wife, Patricia, Joseph Hund and wife, Karen, and Ronald Hund and wife, Joanne; sisters, Dorothy McGonigle and husband, Eugene, and Patricia Walkup; grandchildren, Andrew Wickliffe, Kathrine Neff, Jacob Neff, Patrick McDermott, Sarah McDermott, Colin McDermott, Nicholas McDermott, Matthew McDermott, Abigail McDermott, Lawrence Neff and Zachary Neff; and great-grandchildren, Conner and Delilah Neff.
