Mary Alice Matthews

MARY ALICE MATTHEWS, age 97, of Bel Air, died in Mariner Health of Forest Hill on March 11, 2005. Born in Kalmia, Maryland, one of 13 children she was the daughter of the late Milton James, Sr. and Annie May Elliott Bull, and the wife for 33 years of the late Thomas Oliver Matthews, Sr. She and her husband owned and operated their own dairy farm. She enjoyed craft work, cooking and feeding her family. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Bel Air. Everybody called her “Mom Mom” even friends of the grandchildren.

Mrs. Matthews is survived by one son, Thomas O. Matthews, Jr. of Bel Air; two daughters, Mary A. Dorney of Darlington and Elizabeth A. Wildason of Bel Air; one brother, Francis L. Bull of Bel Air; 10 grandchildren, L. Alan Dorney of Bel Air; M. Dianne Olinger of Darlington; L. Jane Walker of Fallston; Cynthia W. Rupert of Bel Air; Carolyn A. McNutt of Bel Air; Tod P. Wildason of Linthicum; Robin L. Sigler of Bel Air; R. Ann O’Connor of Florida; Sandra L. Rogers of Florida; Michelle J. Ramirez of Florida; 25 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 303 North Main Street, Bel Air, Maryland 21014.
