Marvin V. John Austin

August 4, 1916 — November 11, 2003

MARVIN V. JOHN AUSTIN, age 87, of Forest Hill, died at his residence on November 11, 2003. Born in Nickelsville, Virginia, he was the son of the late Charles S. and Geneva Hartsock Austin. A dairy farmer, he was the owner and operator of the Hillside Farm. He also worked at Southern States, Bel Air and Bel Air Farm Supply, drove a school bus for a few years and worked for Harford County Parks and Recreation for several years. He was an avid coon hunter and a member of the Raccoon Club of Maryland. He was a member of the Churchville Presbyterian Church. He attended Loving Heart Adult Day Care.

Mr. Austin is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mildred Roland Austin; two daughters, Janice Marie Austin Hopkins of Bel Air; Beverly Anne Austin Billings and her husband, Ben F. Billings of Darlington; one brother, Ralph A. Austin of Bel Air; one sister, Oma Austin Hall of Abingdon, Virginia; six grandchildren, Deborah Karen Schultz of Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania; John Hopkins and his wife, Chrissy Hopkins of Bel Air; Angela Marie Hopkins of Havre de Grace; Thomas Ralph Billings of Keaau, Hawaii; Timothy Ben Billings of Baltimore; Troy Austin Billings of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and one great-granddaughter, Kayla Fay Hopkins of Bel Air. Also survived by six nieces and nephews; 12 great nieces and nephews; and nine great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Charles M. Bob Austin.


Pallbearers will be: John Hopkins, Timothy Billings, Gretchen Troyer, Donald E. Heizer, Rodney Erdman, Michael Witkowski, Thomas R. Billings, and Troy Austin Billings. Honorary pallbearers will be: Robert Farrington, John Swam, and Jerry Stamper.
