LTC Marvin James "Jim" Kolch, USA, Ret., age 74, of Abingdon, MD, passed away on March 30, 2014 at his home. Born in Saginaw, MI, he was the son of the late Marvin E. and Shirley Maxine Loibel Kolch. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after serving 25 years in the U.S. Army then, for 25 years, went on to train First Responders how to recognize, mitigate and survive chemical, biological and nuclear attack on citizens. From 2001-2011 he worked for EAI Corporation training at military installations overseas. He also worked for BSC America in Abingdon.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara I. Kolch; son LTC Kurt M. Kolch, USAF, Ret., and wife Sharon, of OR and Edwin Schwinn of Edgewood; daughter, Connie K. Crossland and husband, Michael, of Aventura, FL; and grandchildren, Erin Shadbolt, E.J. Schwinn, Caitlin Schwinn, Kirsten Kolch and Kenady Schwinn.
