Martha Robinson Aston

October 23, 1928 — March 9, 2021

Martha Robinson Aston, 92, of Perry Hall, Maryland passed away on March 9, 2021. She was an active member of The Perry Hall Presbyterian Church where over the years she held many positions including Deacon, Elder, floral arranger, and other committee roles. She was most at home when in church, loved the parishioners, the children, bible studies, bake sales, and the like…She had the gift of giving and was always prepared to jump in where needed.

Martha was born in Bel Air, Maryland on 10/23/28 where she lived with her parents and four siblings who all have preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph William Aston to whom she was married for over 40 years.

She is survived by her son, Daniel Whitmore Aston; daughters, Terry Lynn Aston and Tracy Lee Sheldon as well as Anthony M. Sheldon Jr., her son-in-law; and her grandchild, Olivia Ross Sheldon. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Her professional life was spent working for several congressmen where she was able to utilize her gift of giving to others who had life struggles and looked to their Congressional offices for assistance. She took great pride in her work as well as satisfaction knowing she had helped someone else along the way. Many of the constituents continued to stay in contact with her years after her retirement because of the impact she had on their lives.

Martha excelled in many areas of her life, but her love of all loves was baking those infamous pound cakes. She took so much pleasure and satisfaction from the popularity of her cakes, she continued to bake well into her 80’s. Her baker’s secret was whipping the butter until it was smooth as silk. We will miss that smooth buttery taste of those wonderful pound cakes.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 405 Williams Court, Suite 120, Baltimore, MD 21220 or Plant a Tree Gift - Memorial Trees - Plant a Tree in a National Forest (alivingtribute.org)
