Jarrettsville

Marshall "Ted" Theodore McRee, 77, of Jarrettsville, Maryland, passed away peacefully in his home on October 14, 2024. Born in Columbia, South Carolina, he was the cherished son of the late George and Sophie (Coyner) McRee and the devoted husband of Lynda (St. Clair) McRee for 39 wonderful years.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Ted served as a helicopter pilot, embodying the spirit of patriotism throughout his life. He was a man of few words, but his loyalty and love for family spoke volumes. Ted’s greatest treasure was his family, and he shared an especially profound bond with his son, a relationship that was a cornerstone of his life.

In his professional life, Ted was a talented craftsman in home construction, skillfully designing three homes for his family, each reflecting his dedication and attention to detail. He was proud to be the owner and founder of Kitchen Warehouse Inc, a kitchen design company. It was one of the first in Hickory, North Carolina. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life—camping in the serene beauty of the North Carolina mountains, walking around the family farm, and sailing the open waters. Ted’s love for the beach provided countless cherished memories with loved ones.

He had a passion for classic cars and delighted in watching air shows, where his love for aviation was reignited. Music was a significant part of his life; his extensive record collection featured favorites like the Doobie Brothers, and he looked forward to listening to NPR every Saturday. A voracious reader, Ted often browsed his local Goodwill, returning home with a treasure trove of Tom Clancy novels and other literary finds.

Sports were another passion—he enjoyed watching football and golf, and attending Orioles games with his son was always a highlight. After a long day, you could often find Ted unwinding in his beloved rocking chair, appreciating life’s little details and teaching his son the same valuable lesson.

Ted leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and the importance of family. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In addition to his wife, Ted is survived by his son, Daniel McRee and sister, Lucille "Lucy" Griffin and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by sisters, Norma Shuford, Dorothy Werth, and Betty Mayer, and brother, George "Bill" McRee.

A memorial Service will be held November 16, 2024 11:00am at Bethel Presbyterian Church, 4135 Norrisville Rd, White Hall, MD 21161.
