Marlyne I. O'Malley

Marlyne I. O'Malley, age 71, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024. Born in Berea, Ohio, she was the daughter of John and Irma (Grimm) Pugel and the beloved wife of John O'Malley.

For 47 years, Marlyne was a devoted member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Bel Air, where she sang in the choir and led confirmation classes. Her commitment to serving others extended beyond the church as she provided youth group leadership at Mountain Christian Church during the boy’s school years. She loved doing things with the grandkids, projects, games, cooking, anything they wanted. Marlyne had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel valued and loved. Whether through a surprise visit or a simple, heartfelt gesture, she had a unique ability to brighten the lives of those around her.

Marlyne’s kindness and compassion reached beyond her family, touching the lives of many. She was a constant source of support and encouragement to all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband, John; her sons, Curtis (Laura) O'Malley, Ryan (Erin) O'Malley, and Mark (Ashley) O'Malley; her sister, Darlene (David) Waugh; her nephew, Michael Waugh; niece, Andrea Buskirk; and her cherished grandchildren, William, Ella, Patrick, Bailey, Penelope, and Daniel O'Malley.

Please join the family and friends as you are able for a celebration of life (bright colored clothing) on Saturday the 19th of October at St Matthew Lutheran Church 1200 Churchville Road, Bel Air, MD 21014. Viewing from 10am to 12pm in the church narthex, followed by a worship service beginning at 12pm, ending with a luncheon in the churches great hall. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church.

Marlyne’s service should come up first on the channel Saturday morning at about 11:50 am, but certainly before Noon, Eastern Standard Time.
