MARLENE B. THOMAS, age 60, of Abingdon, died in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center on May 19, 2005. Born in Abingdon, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Hattie Lillian Lee Hoes. She had been a teacher at Edgewood Elementary from 1969-72. She then became an assistant principal at Meadowvale Elementary in Havre de Grace. She became the Assistant Supervisor for Federal Programs for Harford County Board of Education. Her most current position was a people personnel worker for Harford County Public Schools. She was a past member of John Wesley United Methodist Church and a member of the NAACP. She was dedicated to helping with Sickle Cell Anemia.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by her husband of 37 years, Charles H. Thomas, Sr.; one son, Charles H. Thomas, Jr. of Abingdon; two brothers, Tyrone Hoes of Ellicott City and Edward G. Hoes of Annapolis.
Pallbearers will be: Tyrone Lee, Aaron Lee, William Thomas, Tyrone Hoes, Jr., Chester Thomas, Jr., and George Holley. Honorary
Pallbearers are Morris Nathaniel Thomas, Vernon Lee, Charles Harris, and Timothy Owens.
