Marjorie Spies Hiob, age 84, formerly of Aberdeen, MD, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2021 at her daughter’s home in Bel Air. Born in Stepney, MD, she was the daughter of Richard and Cora (Hopkins) Spies. She was married for 64 years to George Casper Hiob, who predeceased her by a few weeks.
A full-time wife and homemaker, Marjorie devoted her life to caring for others. A devout Christian, she lovingly volunteered her time and talents for many years at schools, churches and nursing homes. She was an accomplished cook, and her homemade pies (including made-from-scratch pie crust) were legendary amongst her family and friends. Marjorie was an excellent dancer, and along with her beloved husband George, won many dance contests over the years. Even late in life, she led an active lifestyle, and enjoyed walking, biking, swimming and playing tennis. Marjorie loved spending time with her large circle of family and friends, especially at their home on Chincoteague Island, VA.
Marjorie is survived by her children, Brenda Moore (Andrew), Michael Hiob (Barb), Sandy Hill (Cecil), Gary Hiob (Karen) and Danny Hiob (Teresa); grandchildren, Brendan and Victoria Moore, Adam and Hannah Hiob, Faith and Hope Hill, Tyler and Kellee Hiob, Alex and Chris Hiob; and great grandchildren, Rory Hiob and Indigo Hamilton.
Internment was private. The family will be hosting a memorial service and “Hiob-Style” celebration of Marjorie’s life later this summer. Details will be posted on social media.
