MARIO JOHN MAURO, SR., age 82, of Perryville, died in Florida on December 10, 2003. Born in New York City, New York, he was the son of the late Thomas and Carmela Aufiero Mauro. He was a member of the Local 16 Iron Workers Union in welding structural steel. A resident of Cecil County for 20 years, he was a member of the Sons of Italy of Baltimore. He enjoyed stained glass, drawing, painting, and gardening. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Florida and Maryland.
Mr. Mauro is survioved by his wife of 57 years, Regina I. Blackburn Mauro; one son, Mario Joseph Mauro, Jr. of Baltimore; five daughters, Carmela Mauro of Bel Air; Merrie Freas of Aberdeen; Regina Clepper of Roopville, Georgia; Angela Connor of Perryville; Melody Loughlin of Abingdon; three sisters, Josephine Clemmons of Florida; Mary Frey of Salisbury, MD; Rosie Dziwulski of Baltimore; six grandchildren, Antoinete Emerson of Abingdon; Loren LaPadula of Bel Air; Maason Connor of Perryville; Morgan LaPadula of Bel Air; Dalton Loughlin of Abingdon; Haley Grace Loughlin of Abingdon; three great-grandchildren, Cassi Mauro of Abingdon; Miranda Emerson of Abingdon; and Eben Emerson of Abingdon. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Ferdinard Mauro and a step-mother, Grace Mauro.
