Marie Moxley Cox

February 8, 1920 — January 26, 2004

MARIE MOXLEY COX, age 83, of Jarrettsville, went to be with the Lord on January 26, 2004. She died at her home.

Born in Harford County, she was the daughter of the late Octavia Cooper and Mack Coy Moxley, Sr. She was the wife of Herbert B. Cox for 62 years.

Mrs. Cox was employed by the Harford County Board of Education for 18 years. She enjoyed her work as the Guidance Department secretary at Bel Air High School from 1962 to 1978. She was an active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and through the years served as a teacher with the Girls Auxiliary, Sunday and Vacation Bible Schools and the nursery. She also looked forward to the special fellowship with friends in her Sunday school class, the King’s Daughters.

After her retirement from Bel Air High School, Mrs. Cox focused on her family and was a volunteer for Hospice of Harford County.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Cox is survived by her children, H. Adrian Cox and his wife, Karen of Joppa; Susan C. Brock and her husband, Donald of Jarrettsville; Rita L. Dreyer and her husband, Bruce of Jarrettsville; Janet L. Cox of Bel Air; nine grandchildren, Adrian Cox of Catonsville; Sean Cox of Stafford, Virginia; Stuart Cox of Fallston; Karey Reed of Stewartstown, Pennsylvania; Laurie Brown of Edgewood; Renee Dreyer of Jarrettsville; Bradley Dreyer of Jarrettsville; Jeremy Hogue of Richmond, Virginia; Carolina Hogue of Richmond, Virginia; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys M. Davis of Bel Air; Geneva M. Finney of Churchville; and two brothers, Ralph Moxley of Jarrettsville; Mack Coy Moxley, Jr. of Bel Air.


Pallbearers will be grandsons: C. Adrian Cox, Sean A. Cox, Stuart W. Cox, Jeremy S. Hogue, J. Bradley Dreyer and Brian T. Reed and Timothy D. Brown, grandsons by marriage.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Oak Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 2106 Churchville Road, Bel Air, MD 21015.
