Marie B. Mcintire

Marie Brown McIntire, age 85, died on April 14, 2017. She was born in Lockport, NY where she grew up and graduated from the Lockport High School. She attended Towson State Teachers College where she graduated in 1953 and thereafter taught in the Lutherville Elementary School. In 1955, she married George Howard McIntire in a service at the First Presbyterian Church in Towson. During the 62 years of her marriage she moved with her family several times, residing in Pennsylvania, New York, California, Germany and New Jersey. In 1986 she retired with her husband to Abingdon, MD. Throughout her moves, she joined with Presbyterian congregations and served in their activities while also managing a family of three and additionally serving in community charity drives and programs. Her favorite recreation was bridge; for which she was acclaimed a world master player by the American Bridge Association. She enjoyed the competition and fellowship at the ABA sanctioned duplicate bridge games in Bel Air and also at regional tournaments. Her hobby was quilting and the results of her skill are now held by family and friends as recipients of her gifts.

She is survived by her husband George Howard McIntire; three daughters, Holly MacIntyre, Melissa Maximov and Louisa Brooks; by her granddaughter Jennifer Hollingsworth and three great-grandchildren; and by her sister Nancy Akehurst of Perry Hall.

She will be buried privately in Hagerstown, MD. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
