Marie Anderson, age 86, of Havre de Grace, Maryland passed away peacefully on June 30, 2024. Born in Yadkinville, North Carolina, she was the beloved daughter of the late Eugene and Oda (Edwards) Steelman and loving wife of the late Lawrence Anderson. Marie dedicated 57 years of her life to A & P (Superfresh) Grocery Store, where she served as a dedicated front-end manager. Her commitment to her work and her warm personality touched the lives of many in her community.
Marie was a devout lifetime member of Bel Air Church of the Nazarene, where her faith played a central role in her life. She had a passion for cooking and baking, renowned for her signature 5-flavor pound cake and the Sunday feasts she lovingly prepared for her family and friends, reminiscent of Thanksgiving meals. Her summer cookouts for the bus company were legendary, featuring her homemade ice cream that everyone eagerly anticipated.
Family was paramount to Marie, and she cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly. They brought immense joy to her life, and she devoted herself to their happiness and well-being. Her love extended beyond her family, as she was known as a caregiver to all, offering kindness and support whenever needed.
Marie had a zest for life, enjoying yearly family vacations at Ocean City and taking brisk walks where she effortlessly outpaced others. Her spirit, resilience, and warm heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Marie is survived by her sons, Gary (Sandra) Anderson, Kevin (Emily) Anderson; grandchildren, Kasey Anderson, Rachel (Brandon) Monk, Kaleb (Kristin) Anderson, Nathan (Samantha) Anderson, Andrea (David) Scarlett, Leah Anderson, and Kelly Anderson; great-grandchildren, Kyle and Knox Anderson, Aubrey and Connor Scarlett, Olivia, and Hunter Monk; brothers, William F. Steelman, and Larry F. Steelman.
In addition to her husband and parents, Marie was preceded in death by grandchildren, Erin Anderson, brothers, John Wayne Steelman, Alvin Steelman, James Steelman, Roger Steelman, Ronnie Steelman, sisters, Patty Sue Steelman, and Peggy Fink
