Marie Alexander

Marie Alexander, a resident of Abingdon, MD, died peacefully at the age of 95. She was born in White Marsh, MD to Milton Joseph Bowers and Mary Catherine (Strehlen) Bowers and was the wife of the late Charles A. Alexander.

Survivors include her children Gerard "Jerry" B. Alexander (Susan), Paul D. Alexander (Cheryl), Ronald L. Alexander, Joseph A. Alexander, Helen M. McGrain (Joe), Mary C. Klecka (Steve); her brother Albert Bowers; Grandchildren: Leah MacKenzie, Steven Alexander, Jessica Alexander, Amy Guzior, Brian Alexander, Amy Alexander, Adam Alexander, Nathan Alexander, Kristin Hubbard, Sarah Pennington, Joshua Alexander, Zachary Alexander, Samuel Klecka, Caroline Klecka, Justin Rolf, Brittany Rolf, and many great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her son Carl G. Alexander and five siblings.

Pallbearers were Samuel Klecka, Justin Rolf, Brian Alexander, Zachary Alexander, Steven Alexander and Joshua Alexander.

Marie worked for the Harford County Board of Education until her retirement. She was very active in her community and church and contributed by cooking meals for the homeless, embroidering Christening bibs for baptisms and sewing costumes for church and school plays. For over 18 years, Marie dressed in character to assist her husband, Charles, when he played Santa Clause for her parish's annual Christmas party for children and many people knew them as "Mr. and Mrs. Clause".

Marie was remarkable for her resiliency, strength, kindness and strong faith. May God be with her.
