Marian M. Scott

Marian M. Scott, 85, a resident of West Ocean City for the past twenty years, and previously of Edgewood, Md., passed away Sunday, December 5, 2010 at home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Bicknell, Indiana on September 8, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Henry Morley and Hilda Ethel Greenbeck.

She worked for the Federal Government at Edgewood Arsenal as a Budget Analyst for many years. She retired in 1984 and moved to West Ocean City in 1990. She was active in her church, Bethany United Methodist and President of the Bethany Belles and Beaus. She was Chaplain; of the Red Hatters of Berlin, of the Edgewood Old Age Club of Harford County, and of the National Association of Federal Employees at Edgewood. She was a member of the Ocean City Women's Club and Ocean City Big Brothers and Big Sisters program.

Her passion was hunting for special items at yard sales for her family, friends or neighbors. She was known for helping those in need and less fortunate. She will be greatly missed by all whom she touched and loved.

She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, John Tanner Scott of West Ocean City; her children, Thomas Allen Pruitt and wife, Donna, of Hunt Valley, Cyrus Rude "Rudy" Pruitt II and wife, Connie, of Alexandria Va., and Willa-Ann "Sissy" Wagman of Havre de Grace; one brother Howard Edward "Buddy" Morley and wife, Bert, of West Ocean City and a sister-in-law Doris Williams of Berlin; nine grandchildren, Allen Pruitt, Justin Pruitt, Chris King, Carla Youngblood, Kyle Pruitt, Kyra Pruitt, Joe Wagman, Wendy Hester, and Sherry Wagman; nine great-grandchildren; several nephews and nieces; and her pets, Lady (dog) and Tiger (cat).

She was preceded by her brothers Gus Williams; Lloyd Franklin Morley and wife, Edna; and James Henry Morley and wife, Sonia.

A memorial service will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church of Berlin on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 2:00 pm, visitation will be 1 hour before the service. Funeral Services will be held at McComas Funeral Home in Abingdon on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 11:00 am with visitation on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 between 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Reverend Beverly C. Stang will be officiating. Interment will follow in Bel Air Memorial Gardens.
