Marguerite Ward

May 10, 1924 — August 31, 2017

Marguerite Ward, age 93, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on August 31, 2017. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of Wilson Roller and Alice Margaret (Cale) Rutherford. Marguerite was the wife of the late Jack B. Ward (1997) and previously the late Arthur H. Luckey (1949). She graduated from Eastern High School in Baltimore and in 1942 won the title of Women's Maryland Fencing Champion. She was always the Favorite “Aunt Bobbie” and her nieces and nephews loved being around her and their cousins. She was the surrogate mother to her nephews, John & Craig Everhart, the sons of her late twin sister Marie. She was "the gatherer" in the family and always arranged family dinners and gatherings. Her doors were always open and she made sure that everyone was fed. She worked for Dr. Phillip Heuman for 32 years as his practice manager in Bel Air. During her life, she was an active member in Bel Air United Methodist Church and Trinity Lutheran Church participating in their choirs, often singing solos. She also attended and was involved in social functions at St. Margaret Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She and Jack assisted their friends, Natalie and the late Ernie Boyd, in teaching dance classes in the Bel Air Area. She and her friends, Doris and Al Bueker, provided entertainment at several local nursing homes. She lived a very active life, enjoyed her family, work, line dancing, ballroom dancing and singing.

Mrs. Ward is survived by six daughters, Carol Demczak of Severna Park, Jane Luckey-Parker (Jim Parker) of Newton Grove, NC, Pam Stachiw (Ken) of Bel Air, Cindy Moomaw (Keith) of Havre de Grace, Patti Mowers (Dan) of East Brunswick, NJ, and Peggy Demko (Tom) of Kulpmont, PA; son, Mike Ward (Sarah) of Lutherville; 22 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents & husbands, she was preceded in death by her 6 siblings, Alice, Katherine, Wilson, Edward, Eleanor and Marie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Association, 1850 York Road, Suite D, Timonium, MD, 21093 or Bel Air United Methodist Church, 21 Linwood Avenue, Bel Air, MD, 21014 or St. Margaret Catholic Church, 141 Hickory Avenue, Bel Air, MD, 21014.
