Marguerite Ann Elder, age 77, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on February 6, 2024, at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Gene and Theresa (McCulley) Jenks and was the beloved wife of the late George Watts Elder. Marguerite retired in 1996 from AT&T after dedicating 30 years of service to the company as a high-performing project manager.
Marguerite had a passion for reading, which began at an exceptionally young age, and she would immerse herself into numerous novels each week. She found great joy in British television, literature, and history. After her retirement, she delighted in sewing and crafting, showcasing her creativity and skill. Marguerite enjoyed traveling with her husband of 34 years visiting Ireland, most of the Caribbean islands, their timeshare in Cancun and many places across the U.S.
Marguerite is survived by her loving daughters, Christine (Kevin) Smith and Deborah LaComb; her cherished grandchildren, Alexandra LaComb, John LaComb, and Lauren Smith; her adored great-grandchildren, Paisley, A.J., Ava, and Rory LaComb; her dear sisters, Patricia Cook, Theresa (Kirk) Clauss, and Jean Marie Gehring; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Theresa Jenks; her husband and love of her life, George Elder; her brother, Gary Jenks; and her brother-in-law, John Paul Cook, Jr., as well as her beloved cat of 18 years, Tai.
