Marguerite Annette Palmer, age 93, of Bel Air, MD passed away on January 16, 2018, at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center in Havre de Grace, MD. Born in Uniontown, PA, she was the daughter of William Bernard Geary and Kathryn Clare (McDermitt) Geary, and was the wife of the late Melvin Lee Palmer. Marguerite left Masontown, PA after graduating high school and moved to Baltimore where for thirteen years she enjoyed her work as a telephone operator. She met her husband Melvin at a local dance and together they moved to Harford County in 1960 to start a family. She lived on Bayberry Road in Edgewood for 40 years and was a long-time member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Marguerite is remembered by family and friends for her quick wit and love of laughter. Her family was always the center of her world. Her Irish heritage was also important to her; she traveled to Ireland and was a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of the Hibernians with which she walked for many years in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Baltimore.
Mrs. Palmer is survived by three sons and their wives, Bryan L. and Mitsy M. Palmer of York, PA, Barry K. and Alicia G. Palmer of Abingdon and Bradley A. and Margaret J. Palmer of Forest Hill; sister, Mary Catherine Franks of Pittsburgh, PA; 6 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, William J. Geary, Paul J. Geary, Bernard Geary, Francis Geary, Leo A. Geary, Jane Bolton, and Clare Crowley.
