Margie Louise "Pat" Swearingen, age 83, of Bel Air, MD, went home to be with the Lord on January 13, 2009 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, Bel Air, MD. Born in Rugby, VA, she was the daughter of the late Joe Cline and Lula Mae Pendry Mikel. A resident of Bel Air for 59 years, she married Rev. Wayne Swearingen in October 1946. She worked 24 years at Aberdeen Proving Ground, retiring as an accounting technician. A member of Emmorton Baptist Church since 1954, she served as treasurer and clerk for 25 years. She also taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She delivered Meals on Wheels for 15 years and enjoyed traveling, where she visited all 50 states, camping, and reading. She also loved to crochet, and collected small pitchers, angels and dolls.
Mrs. Swearingen is survived by her husband of 62 years, Rev. Wayne W. Swearingen of Bel Air, MD; son, Terryl W. Swearingen and wife, Marie, of Delta, PA; daughters, Trica Blocher and husband, Barry, of Conifer, CO; sister, Hazel M. Testerman of Bel Air, MD; grandchildren, Keith C. Swearingen and wife, Amanda, and Brian W. Swearingen, both of Darlington, MD, Cole I. Adams of Bel Air, MD, Hannah L. Adams of Ft. Collins, CO; and great granddaughter, Kaley L. Swearingen of Darlington, MD. She is also survived by step-grandchildren and a step-great-grandson. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Sherry L. Swearingen.
