Margie Cumming, age 95, passed away on November 27, 2017. Born in Plain Dealing, LA, she was the daughter of Luther and Susie (Strayhan) Boggs, and was the second oldest of seven siblings. She was the wife of the late Lt. Colonel Gordon F. Cumming, Sr. Together they traveled throughout Europe and the Eastern Coast of the United States with their four children, and especially cherished their time living in Heidelberg, Germany. After settling in Joppatowne, Maryland, Margie enjoyed gardening, and spending time outside. She was an avid quilter, who also enjoyed reading, playing cards and challenging Sudoku puzzles. Her favorite activity was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She later lived in Bel Air, Maryland, and then at Oak Crest Village in Parkville, Maryland.
Mrs. Cumming is survived by her children, Robert (Betsy) G. Cumming of Baltimore, William (Becca) P. Cumming of Carlsbad, CA, Gordon (Karen) F. Cumming, Jr. of Severna Park, and Charlotte C. Mitchum of Bel Air; one brother, Luke Boggs, of Plain Dealing, LA; and her beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth Cumming, Olivia Cumming, Joshua Cumming, Emily Krebs, Michael Cumming, Courtney Howell, and Lyndsey Mitchum.
Private services were held at Saint James Episcopal Church with Interment at Saint James Cemetery in Monkton, Maryland. Those who desire may make donations in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN, 38101.
