Margaret "Peggy" Elizabeth Anderson Phillips, formerly of Darlington MD and Fort Myers FL, died December 7th, 2015 at the Kingston Assisted Living Residence in Hickory, NC. She was 81.

Born in Wilmington DE on July 3rd, 1934, she was the daughter of the late John Perce and Eleanor Shouck Anderson of Perryville, MD. She graduated from Perryville (MD) High School and in 1955 completed a 3-year R.N. Nursing Degree at the Delaware Hospital School of Nursing in Wilmington. In 1957 she joined the Obstetrical Nursing Staff at Harford Memorial Hospital, Havre de Grace MD. There she met her future husband, the late Dr. Malcolm Dudley Phillips.

Dr. Phillips, a family physician in Darlington for more than 50 years, was a tenured obstetrician for 26 of those years at Harford Memorial Hospital. They married on November 17, 1963. They raised a blended family of seven children, and together served various roles with both the Maryland Academy of Family Physicians, and the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Described by friend and physician-wife colleague, Mrs. Earl (Tink) Hill of Annapolis MD, said "Peggy was a very gracious host to many when she and Dudley owned condos in Fort Myers and Sanibel Island FL. She always invited friends to spend time with them and taught the hobby of collecting and identifying shells, sometimes with a flashlight, and then creating works of art from her collection."

A former member of the Maryland Nurses Association, Mrs. Phillips was a Past President of the Harford County Medical Society Women's Auxiliary. Active in the Darlington United Methodist Church, she served on the Pastor-Parish Relationship Committee, the Parsonage Committee, and the annual Strawberry Festival Committee. At the time of Dr. Phillips' death in 2007, the couple had been married more than 43 years, and had been living in Fort Myers FL for part of the year.
