Margaret (Marge) Higgins

September 5, 1910 — February 8, 2004

MARGARET (MARGE) HIGGINS, age 93, of Elkton, died at the Laurelwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Elkton on February 8, 2004. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Barbara Schubert Nesval and the wife of the late Bill Higgins. Mrs. Higgins was a telephone operator in Cleveland, Ohio and worked at Bata Shoe Co. and Bendix Corporation. She was a bookkeeper for the Bill Higgins Oil Burner Service and a homemaker. She cared for several foster children over the years. Mrs. Higgins was a long time resident of Harford County, then moved to Easton where she resided for over 22 years before living her final two years in Elkton. She was originally a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, in Bel Air and a charter member of the Bel Forest Baptist Church, where she was a soloist, church treasurer, and active in the Women’s Missionary Union. She was also the treasurer for the Susquehanna Baptist Association. She enjoyed bowling and was very active in two leagues until the age of 89.

Mrs. Higgins is survived by two daughters, Katherine M. Higgins of Adams Run, South Carolina; Karen A, Rice of Elkton; son-in-law Rev. Tony Rice; two grandchildren, Tiffany A. Rice of Elkton; David J. Rice of Elkton; five nieces, Joan Hansen of Parma, Ohio; Jacquelyn Reed of Fallston; Fredna Vaught of Elk Creek, Virginia; Ruth Jehnert of Forest Hill; Rose Blevins of Bel Air; Janie Privoznik, of Tempe, Arizona; and a nephew, Neil Block of Cleveland, Ohio.
