Margaret L. "Peggy" Wilson

July 4, 1941 — January 16, 2021

Margaret “Peggy” Wilson (nee Salvati) was a woman of varied experiences and a beautiful disposition. Born on July 4, 1941, she died peacefully at home on January 16, 2021, at the age of 79.

Peggy is survived by her husband of 60 years, Harry Wilson; her daughters Karen A. Wilson and Lori J. Wilson (Vince Simoncini), and her son Joseph R. Wilson (Stephanie); 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister and brother, Judy Neff and Jerry McNelus.

Peggy was from Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Rudy and Violet Salvati. A talented musician and dancer, she performed throughout Central Pennsylvania as a child and was featured on several recordings. Her love of music was a constant passion throughout her life.

In 1960, Peggy married Harry Wilson of Cresson, Pennsylvania. They were devoted to one another for 60 years. She was a dedicated mother to her children, a solver of problems in the home, and a participant in every conversation. She doted on her grandchildren, acting as grandmother, cheerleader, babysitter, and all-around encourager to them. She celebrated their every accomplishment. She was also overjoyed for another generation in the family when her great-grandchildren arrived. Her steadfast spirit was a constant source of strength to her family.

Peggy was a devoted follower of Jesus and enjoyed participating in church. Her faith was the guiding principle of her life. She enjoyed singing at church and hosting a Bible Study in her home. She worked various jobs in her adult life, but particularly enjoyed encouraging the students at James Run Christian Academy in her years as a secretary.

Peggy was a learner. From reading encyclopedia and dictionary entries to exploring every Prevention magazine suggestion, she worked hard to develop herself. She was a good cook, an expert budget keeper, and generous with many charities. She loved to swim, to play cards (especially Bridge), and to sing along to any song (regardless of the right or wrong lyrics).
Though she faced many physical obstacles in life, she was never deterred from attempting anything. The priorities of her life were God and her family. She was a joy to everyone who knew her, and is celebrated and mourned by her loving family.

In lieu of flowers, you can honor Peggy by going to church this week and sharing words of love with your family.
