Margaret L. "Marge" Burdette

Margaret L. "Marge" Burdette, age 97, of Glen Arm, Maryland passed away on February 20, 2022. Born in Cumberland, Maryland, she was the daughter of Leon and Louise (Reuschel) Hook. She attended Davis and Elkins College. She is the wife of the late John C. Burdette, Jr. She met her husband at Kelly Springfield Tire Company in Cumberland where she was a secretary in the engineering department. Marge was a Board member of the Women’s Auxiliary, Engineering Society of Baltimore. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and attended Bible Study she was active in the Glen Arm Garden Club. She traveled to the Galápagos Islands and Europe. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She studied at Peabody and taught piano. Marge was passionate about wildlife and caring for rescued cats.

Margaret is survived by her sons, former Mayor, Stephen C. Burdette and his wife former Mayor, Susan Burdette of Bel Air, MD; David G. Burdette (Michele Joynes) of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, Bradford & Alexander Burdette; niece, Deborah Donoflio, nephew, Allen Burdette (Suzanne) and their son David.
