Margaret Holmes

Margaret Ann Heaps Holmes, age 73, passed away suddenly on December 4, 2023 at Morningside House of Satyr Hill in Parkville, MD.  Margaret was a lifelong Harford County resident.  Born in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Carl Marvel and Geneva (Wilson) Heaps.

She was a graduate of Bel Air High School Class of 1968 and Towson State University with a degree in Music Education.  She spent decades teaching music in the Harford County Public Schools.  Many of those years were spent at Bel Air Elementary where she was very patient while introducing the 4^th and 5^th graders to instrumental music.  For many years she gave private instrumental lessons.  In addition, she had an instrument repair business.  Margaret performed with many concert groups including the Susquehanna Symphony Orchestra for over 30 years.  She loved music, especially attending Broadway Musicals. 

Margaret was a Wonder Woman with decades of health issues.  She survived cancers four times, many orthopedic surgeries and heart and lung diseases.  She was a fighter until the end. 

In addition, she took great pride in her flower gardens.  She was an avid Orioles fan, loving to attend many games.  The highlights of her life were her dogs, Roxie, Baron and Jitterbug.

Margaret is survived by her sister, Carol Lee Garland, and her brothers, Wilson E. Heaps and Charles W. Heaps (Teresa).  She was a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews.
