Margaret Ellen Harford Britt

MARGARET ELLEN HARFORD BRITT, age 85, of Abingdon, died in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center on March 4, 2005. Born in North Union Township, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Wilbert Harford and Laura Christina Christopher, and the wife of the late Franklin Clay Britt, Sr. She served her country as a factory worker during WW II and spent 10 years handling clerical responsibilities at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore. After her retirement she spent her time serving Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at Hamilton Presbyterian Church in Baltimore. Her greatest enjoyment was the time devoted to her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. Her family says she will be missed by all those who loved her until they reunite one day in the presence of our Lord.

Mrs. Britt is survived by one son, Franklin C. Britt, Jr. and his wife, JoAnn of Baltimore; one daughter, Brenda Kay Gillingham and her husband, Gary of Abingdon; four grandchildren, Laura Zorn of Abingdon; Kimberlee Coffee of Lynchburg, Virginia; Jennifer Yates of Richmond, Virginia; Andrea Britt of Baltimore; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her mother and father, she was predeceased by her step-father, Daniel Bryan Christopher.
