Margaret May Brown Orf, a beloved member of the Bel Air, Maryland community, passed away on April 20, 2024, at the age of 89. Margaret was born in Sparta, North Carolina, to the late Soloman and Cynthia (Caudill) Fortner.
Throughout her life, Margaret made significant contributions both professionally and within her community. She dedicated over 20 years of service to Harford County Public Schools, working as a custodian and cafeteria worker. She was also a proud member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion in Aberdeen Post 128.
Margaret had a variety of interests and hobbies that brought her joy. She was passionate about crocheting bedspreads, tending to her flower gardens, and spending time outdoors fishing. She also found pleasure in more leisurely activities such as watching game shows and solving word searches and crossword puzzles. Margaret cherished moments spent with her grandchildren, especially when they worked together on puzzles.
Margaret is survived by her two daughters, Betty Brown and Carol Callaghan, her son William "Billy" (Linda) Brown, her stepson Ray "Butch" Orf Jr., her sister Velma Bradley, as well as 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her former spouses, John Arlon Brown and Ray Orf Sr., her son Glen Eugene Brown, her sister Ruby Dawson, and her granddaughter Amy Brown.
Contributions may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital or the American Cancer Society, two causes close to Margaret's heart.
