MARCELENE KEFAUVER ADAMS, age 89, of Bel Air, a cherished member of her family and community, died November 6, 2004 in Baltimore. She was born in Burkittsville, MD near Jarrettsville to Luther Melvin Kefauver, Sr. and Esther Hawkins Easterday Kefauver, the oldest daughter of their ten children. Marcelene was devotedly married to Thomas Luther Adams, Sr. until his death in 1974.
Mrs. Adams was a 1932 Bel Air High School graduate and a lifetime member of the Maryland 4-H Club All Stars. She was a remarkable dedicated leader of the Lady Bugs Senior 4-H club as well as a humble servant in the Harford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels of Harford County, and Homemakers. As a long-time member of Churchville Presbyterian Church, she was honored to serve in the women’s circles, numerous committees, and as a deacon and elder, living out in her daily life the serenity and positive attitude she found in faith and hoped for others.
Her family and friends enjoyed the fruit of her avid gardening and welcoming hospitality. Her door was always open and her table ever expanding as she fed and housed many who visited her comfortable home and Fair Haven Farm. Her nurturing heart endeared her to all who knew her as she quietly listened and loved.
Mrs. Adams is survived by one son, Thomas Luther Adams II and his wife, Miriam of Bel Air; three siblings, Myrtle Johnson of Stewartstown, Pennsylvania, Luther Kefauver, Jr. of Jarrettsville, and Betty McLaughlin of Delta, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Thomas Luther Adams, III of Darlington, Stephen Charles Adams of Bel Air; Marsha Adams Quesenberry of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; Marilyn Adams Bradley of Bel Air; and 14 great-grandchildren, Tad and Bowen Adams of Darlington, Brandon, Tyler, and Mackenzie Adams, all of Bel Air, Connor, Caitlin and Hannah Lacy, and Megan and Emily Quesenberry, all of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, and Todd, Mark, Scott, and Jake Bradley, all of Bel Air.
