Lynda Dinka Thurston, age 68, of Port Deposit, MD passed away on December 10, 2018 at her home. Born in Fort Belvoir, VA, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Ellen (Sexton) Dinka and wife of 22 years to Roy L. Thurston. She graduated from Edgewood High School in 1968 and earned her Business Degree from Towson State University. She was an accountant for Coughlin & Mann, Getz Accounting, KatzAbosch and currently Leavy, Hucik, Shifflett & Snyder, LLC. She loved her grandchildren dearly, going to all of their games, and loved being "Team Grammy". She enjoyed Hobie Cat sailing, the water, was an avid listener of Jimmy Buffett and loved flamingos. She supported the Northeast Region Crime Scene Search Team, Stray Streets TNR in Havre de Grace & Chesapeake Feline Assoc. An avid reader, she especially enjoyed reading Stephen King. She celebrated 5 years of having a kidney transplant from the John Hopkins Hospital.
Mrs. Thurston is survived by her son, Christopher A. Hoover and his wife, Angela L. Hoover ; twin granddaughters, Aubrey and Cassidy Hoover; and two cousins, James M. “Bucky” Sexton and Alice Sexton.
Visitation will be held under the caring guidance of the family-owned and operated McComas Funeral Home, P.A., Abingdon, MD on Monday, December 17, 2018 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm with a service between visitations at 4 pm with The Rev. Canon Dr. Mark A. Gatza officiating.
