Obituary of Lyle "the Legend" Dean Pearcy
It is with great pride and honor that Kay Pearcy, and her children, Christopher Pearcy and Lianne Marianetti announce the arrival in Heaven of their beloved husband, and Father, Lyle Dean Pearcy. Lyle was escorted by the angels to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ and all the Saints on Sunday, July 23, 2023.
One of the last things Lyle said on earth is, "I'm a Christian and I love the Lord." Lyle lived a Christian life which was truly above beyond reproach in all categories of measure. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior during his youth and never strayed from his faith. He was also the proudest of proud Americans and deeply loved our great nation. He loved President Donald J.Trump and prayed daily for his return to our Presidency.
Lyle came from humble beginnings. He began delivering newspapers at the age of five. He used his earnings to buy food and chocolate milkshakes. Early on, he developed a love for law enforcement and set his personal objective to become a police officer. His goal was achieved in 1960 when he graduated from the Los Angeles Police Department Academy. Kay was right by his side all 27 years he served on the LAPD. During this time he had the honor of serving on the world's very first Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT). He also rode motors for many years, and concluded his career in Public Affairs creating events which raised money for the spouses and children of fallen heroes. He loved his police brothers.
Lyle was a man's man in every sense. You always knew you were safe if Lyle was there. He earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and taught firearms safety for many years. He and Kay founded a successful security business which they operated together for many years. Lyle even wrote a book entitled, "From a Compton Trailer Park to Rodeo Drive...."
If ever a man truly loved a woman on this earth, Lyle loved Kay. He was thrilled to tell how he met Kay at Compton High School in California and how he chased a former boyfriend out of her house and out of her life for good. Lyle and Kay were very happily married through thick and thin for 66 years.
Lyle also deeply loved his late parents, Herschel and Edna Pearcy, his late brother, Lee (Nora) Pearcy, and his late twin sister, Lyla (Bob) Nonemaker. He remained close with his "Big Sis", Lois Rawson, and his baby brother, Lloyd (Jenny) Pearcy throughout his entire life.
Along with his first love, Kay, Lyle was the most devoted of Fathers to his daughter, Lianne, and his son, Christopher. When Lianne was born, he carried an 8 1/2" x 11" picture of her on his police clipboard and proudly showed everyone he met! Everyday before he left for work, Lyle would take Chris for a ride on his motorcycle. All the neighbors looked forward to seeing the policeman with the cute baby fly by!
Then, there was "Zacky", Zackary David Pearcy, Lyle's first grandchild from Chris and his wife, Kim. He called Zacky his "shadow" and loved him intensely until precious Zacky recently went to be with the Lord.
Lyle was crazy about Kay's Mother, Dee Dee, and his dear sister-in-laws, "Cheech", Christy Rikalo, and Delores Ptacek. He loved all his family and friends, and was thrilled at the arrival of his other grandchildren, Brooke Savannah and Ashley, along with his great-grandchild, Violet Blush, from Zacky and Carter.
In short, it can be said that Lyle loved, and truly loved at that. And, isn't that what the Bible commands us to do? Love others as ourselves. Lyle did this in spades. His life is chock full of loving actions of kindness and generosity to all. He has affectionately been called "The Legend" by those fortunate enough to have seen these behaviors up close.
Lyle's favorite Bible verse, which he quoted often, is 1 Corinthians 2:9 "But as it is written, Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for them who love Him."
Lyle is one of "them who love Him". What an honor to be in this category and what wisdom it demonstrates. Lyle was blessed with this wisdom as a very young child.
