Luther Showalter Jr., age 93, of Street, Maryland passed away on June 8, 2021 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Springfield, Illinois, he was the son of Luther and Alvina (Fuiten) Showalter. A veteran of the U.S. Merchant Marines, he served our country in WWII and went on to work as a maintenance foreman for weather recording. He was a member of Joppatowne Christian Church and loved working in his flower garden. Luther loved to travel with his wife in their RV, visiting 49 of the United States. He loved his kids and grandkids was a wonderful Grand-Pap.
Luther is survived by his wife M. Alverta Showalter; sons, James Luther (Cinda) Showalter and Alan Frederick (Esther) Showalter; daughter, Victoria (Glenn) Raistrick; grandchildren, Shari (Tim) Goodenough, Lauri (Jason Krall) Showalter, Ian Raistrick, Megan Gullion, and Dana (Matthew) Goodwin; great-grandchildren, Ryan (Jenny) Goodenough, Aaron Krall, Alexis Krall, Adrien (Dylan Waltman) Krall, Brandon Goodenough, Jackson Gullion, Owen Goodwin, Logan Gullion and Grant Goodwin; brothers, John Showalter and Gary Showalter; sister, Donna Fisher; great-great-granddaughter, Amara Waltman; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara Enck and Anna Claar and brother, Albert Showalter.
