On March 3, 2012, Luther Martin Stein at the age of 91 passed away peacefully at Reston Hospital in Reston, Virginia. Luther was born on August 23, 1920 in Aberdeen, MD and was a resident of Abingdon, MD until December 1987.
Luther leaves behind his loving wife Mildred, to whom he was married to for 63 years, their children, Clifford Stein, Michael Stein and Robin Fatz, daughter-in-laws Evelyn Stein and Judy Stein, son-in-law Raymond Fatz, grandchildren Karl Stein, Fiona Stein and Adam Fatz, nephews Robert Hess and Samuel Stein and niece Joan Ryder. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Maime Stein, his sister Genevieve Hess and his brother Charles Stein.
Luther was a veteran of World War II, having served as an Aviation Metalsmith in the Navy from 1942 until 1945.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Luther's name to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church Infrastructure and Development Fund, 1090 Sterling Road, Herndon, VA 20170.
