Lucy F. Gerwig

Lucy F. Gerwig, age 90, of Abingdon, MD, went home on December 24, 2011 to spend Christmas with her husband and daughter. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Gottfried and Emily Keene Egli and wife, for 45 years, of the late Jacob F. Gerwig Jr. who was the love of her life. She was employed for over 40 years as an operator with C&P Telephone Company and was a member of the C&P Pioneers. An avid reader, she loved to bake and spend time with her family.

Mrs. Gerwig is survived by her son, Robert E. Gerwig and his wife, Rita, of Grasonville, MD; sister, Emily Parker of AZ; grandchildren, Tammy Vollmar, John Gant, Cindy Stambaugh, Sherri and John Mitchell, Debbie and Jim Wigfield, and Rob Gerwig; 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Jacqueline T. Nolte.
