LUCY E. KEITHLEY, age 98, of Joppa, MD, died on February 25, 2008 at Lorien Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Belcamp, MD. Born in Towson, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Magdelina Chenowith Simms and wife of the late Coleman A. Keithley Jr. who she married in December 1923 at the age of 19, and for 72 years lived in the house her husband built for her. Her husband and brother owned Keithley's Garage on Rt. 40 in the Edgewood area where she helped service cars during WWII. Prior to her marriage, she worked as a receptionist at Black and Decker. An avid gardener, she was very active in her religion and enjoyed her grandchildren.
Mrs. Keithley is survived by four daughters, Doris McDaniel of Forest Hill, MD, Blanche E. Hutchins of Havre de Grace, MD, Marie M. Coulter of Sunderland, MD, and Diana F. Buettner of Bel Air, MD; eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Larry Hutchins, Steven Hutchins, Ed Hutchins, Jay Edwards, Charles Smith, and Jack Buettner.
