Lucile Kathryn (Dalton) Hamby died September 11, 2016 at Avondell in Bel Air, MD. She was 85. She was born in Harford County, Maryland. She grew up in Baldwin, Maryland and was raised on a farm that is now a Maryland State Park on the Dalton-Bevard Road. She graduated from Bel Air High School in 1948 and first worked for the Aegis in Bel Air as a secretary to the editor. She then worked at Edgewood Arsenal and later at Aberdeen Proving Ground, rounding out her career as secretary to the Commanding General of the US Army Ordnance School and Center. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Ellen O'Neill of Bel Air and Elizabeth Saunders of Gillett, PA; her brothers, Robert Dalton of Kingsville, MD and Tom Dalton of Juniper, FL; her niece, Mary Lynn Bowers; her nephews, Mark O'Neill of Marina del Rey, CA and Howard O'Neill of Gandeeville, WV along with many other nieces and nephews, and cousins. Lucile married Carl Hamby in 1954 and they were married 58 years before his death in 2012. She was also predeceased by her mother, Ethel Dalton, her father, Charles Dalton, Sr. and her brother, Charles Dalton, Jr. She loved crabbing, trips to Florida in the winter and her condo in Ocean City.
