LT. COL. PAUL GERARD (RET.), age 99, of Parkville, MD, died on July 11, 2008 at Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. Born in Masonville, NJ, he was the son of the late Paul Louis and Celina Gaubert Gerard and husband of the late Lillian D. Kozlowski Gerard. A veteran, he served our country during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He retired, after 26 years, from the U.S. Army, and became the co-owner of the service station on the corner of Rt. 40 and Edgewood Rd. along with Major Boruff. Later, for 20 more years, he began driving a school bus at Edgewood and Old Post Road schools where he really enjoyed the children. He was a lifetime member of both the American Legion in Edgewood, where he ran the Bingo for several years, and the VFW in Abingdon, and was a retired officer of both.
Mr. Gerard is survived by two daughters-in-law, Patricia Gerard of Audubon, PA and Suzanne Gerard of Woodbury, NJ; four grandchildren, Janet Lapps of Mason, OH, Kathleen Mixon of Milton, DE, Michael Paul Gerard of Gibbstown, NJ, and Lisa S. Braun of Wenonah, NJ; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by two sons, Paul L. Gerard and Raymond W. Gerard, a brother, Maurice L. Gerard, and a sister, Ethel F. Dennis.
