Lt. Col. Charles “Chuck” Lincoln Tipton, Retired, age 74, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on January 17, 2021 at his home. Born in Girard, Illinois, he was the son of Henry Lincoln and Lois Maurine (Weddle) Tipton and husband of the late Christine Archer Tipton. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years as a fighter pilot and flight instructor, having survived being shot down in his A-1 and evading capture in Vietnam. While certified on several fighter aircrafts, Chuck was most known for his service and most enjoyed the A-10 having logged well over 1000 flight hours in that aircraft alone. Chuck followed his career in the U.S. Air Force as a mechanical engineer and Certified Commissioning Agent with Gipe Associates in Towson, MD for over 19 years. He is remembered for his generosity, virtue, kindness, and selflessness, and as a man of great intellect.
Chuck is survived by his daughter Emily (Jefferson Wiltshire) Tipton; sons Roger (Jacquee) Rudy and Ben Rudy; sisters, Cathy Jackson of Raymond, IL and Barbara Musser of Greenville, OH; and grandchildren, Lauren, Brooke, Sam, Eve and Lucas.
