A. LOUISE HARRIS, age 87, of Abingdon, MD, died on September 24, 2006, at Manor Care in Rossville, MD. Born in Union Bridge, MD, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Viola Serina Hollingsworth Norton and the wife of the late Lloyd A. “Bill” Harris. She was a homemaker who was affectionately called “Sister” who had a pleasant smile and a warm and generous heart. She was educated at Abingdon Colored School and was a member of the Diabetics Club of Joppa. She was also a lifetime member of John Wesley United Methodist Church where she was “Mother of the church,” a senior usher, and a communion steward. She enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren and found special value and worth in each one, thus each grandchild has a special and unique story to tell. She had a special fondness for her boys and was the neighborhood mother to everyone and a devoted friend to many. She had an affection for animals and had a special pot brewing for all the stray dogs.
Mrs. Harris is survived by five sons, Lloyd A. Harris of Abingdon, MD, Thomas E. Harris, Sr. of Edgewood, MD, Charles M. Harris of Manning, SC, James R. Harris of Joppa, MD, and Roger E. Harris of Edgewood, MD; six daughters, Betty L. Miller of Edgewood, MD, Evelyn Brice of Abingdon, MD, Anna L. Moore of Joppa, MD, Charlotte E. Robinson of Joppa, MD, K. Linda Johnson of Edgewood, MD, and Denise Stokes of Abingdon, MD; two sisters, Lucille Buchanan of Jarrettsville, MD, and Mildred Norton of Baltimore, MD; two sisters-in law, Mildred Norton of Churchville, MD, and Thelma Kelley of Baltimore, MD; 34 grandchildren, 86 great-grandchildren, and 36 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Viola S. Jones; seven brothers, William Norton, Robert Norton, George Norton, Charles Norton, Kenneth Norton, Harold Norton and Clarence Norton; and two grandsons, Myron Buchanan and Carlos Alford.
