Louis John Smith, age 77, of Jarrettsville, Maryland, passed away on March 28, 2025. Born in Essex, Maryland on October 12, 1947, he was the son of Norman Smith, Louise (Oberle) and Jacob Dumeier. Louis was a devoted husband for almost 39 years to Barbara Smith.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Louis served with honor during the Vietnam War. He was a long-time member of the Mt. Ararat Masonic Lodge and a former member of the Jarrettsville Lion’s Club.
Louis had a passion for travel, especially enjoying cruises to Alaska, Canada, and the Caribbean. He also had a deep love for animals, particularly cats, and was an avid collector of military memorabilia. One of his favorite pastimes was keeping a close eye on the weather, always fascinated by its changes.
Above all, Louis cherished his family, with a special love for his grandchildren. He loved spending time with them and treasured every moment.
In addition to his wife, Louis is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Smith-Weaver (Aron Ianuzzi) and her children Justin, Casen, and Alexandria; stepson, Michael (Rachel) Geppi and their children Michael, Nicholas, and Luciana; brother, Donald (Angie) Smith; sisters-in-law, Joanne Della Rose and Lee Della Rose, and brother-in-law, Tony Della Rose; cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
In addition to his parents and stepfather, he was preceded in death by his beloved son-in-law, Zachary Alan Weaver and sister-in-law Jenny Della Rose.
