Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Educator, and Lifelong Learner
Louis A. Wehage, 81, of Jarrettsville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Lou was the cherished son of the late Bernard and Catherine (Dibbern) Wehage.
Lou shared 59 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Diana (Maio) Wehage, creating a lifetime of cherished memories filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Together, they raised a loving family, and Lou was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who found his greatest joy in his family.
A passionate and dedicated educator, Lou’s remarkable 35-year career as an education professional touched countless lives, inspiring generations of students with his wisdom and enthusiasm for learning. He was also an active member of the Historical Society of Harford County and the Retired Teachers of Baltimore County, demonstrating his deep commitment to history and education.
Lou’s life was rich with interests and hobbies that reflected his curious and adventurous spirit. He was an avid reader, traveler, enthusiastic gardener, and a talented woodworker who delighted in creating with his hands. In his younger years, he was a passionate athlete who enjoyed skiing, playing tennis, and running. He completed numerous 10-mile running races, a testament to his determination and love for an active lifestyle.
Lou's warmth, intellect, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, learning, and kindness will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
In addition to his wife, Lou is survived by his son, Scott Wehage and his fiancée Shannon Raemer; daughter, Christina Howard and her husband Scott Howard; grandchildren, Christopher Wehage, Catherine Wehage, and Anna Howard; nephews, David Wehage, Louis Wehage and niece, Maria.
In addition to his parents, Lou was preceded in death by brother, Bernard L. Wehage.
