Lois May O'Neill

Lois May O'Neill of Springwood Farm, Forest Hill, MD, wife of the late John H. O'Neill, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 14, 2009. Born May 14, 1925, at Edgewood Farm, she was the daughter of the late Elsa Clara Merkel Schnepfe and Norman John Schnepfe. She was predeceased by her sister Mary Ann Schnepfe Price and is survived by her sisters, Eleanor Schnepfe Hawkins and Jean Schnepfe Elliott; her children, John H. O'Neill, Jr. and wife Vivian, Mary Lou Hoopes and husband Jim, Carolyn Nelson and husband Cole, Aimee O'Neill Torre and husband Jim, Betsy O'Neill Collie, Patrick S. O'Neill and Harry St. A. O'Neill and wife Stephanie; 20 grandchildren and spouses; and 6 great grandchildren.

Lois attended the Edgewood Arsenal Elementary School and graduated from Bel Air High School in 1942. During WWII she worked at Edgewood Arsenal. She married John H. O'Neill on December 10, 1945 at the Naval Chapel in Long Beach, CA, returned to Harford County in 1946 and moved to Springwood Farm in 1959. While raising their 7 children, she tirelessly supported her husband's farming, political and entrepreneurial endeavors. In their later years, they travelled extensively around the world. She was active in the Harford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Red Cross, the American Heart Association and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Her life was shared by many, many friends and family members who spent time around her table at Springwood Farm.

A private Celebration of Life will be held.
