Lloyd Nelson Mcnutt

October 29, 1938 — November 20, 2011

"My life on earth is over, and I am resting in the arms of Jesus. I am surrounded by our loved ones who have gone before me, but I have not left you. I promise to remain with you and to love you for all the days of eternity."

I was born on October 29, 1938, to my loving parents, Samuel Nelson McNutt, Sr., and Mary Trellis Lloyd McNutt. Their greatest gift to me as a child was four wonderful sisters: Ann McNutt, Mary Jane McNutt, twins Joyce Drewanz and Janice Nieberding, and a brother, Samuel McNutt, Jr. I married my first wife, Nancy, and we were blessed with my wonderful daughter, Michelle McNutt, who I hope will draw strength now from her terrific partner, Donna Da Roja.

In 1983, I married my wife, Millie Thuerrauch McNutt. For over twenty-eight years, I have been surrounded by my devoted wife, and a family that has grown in both their religious faith and size. I am truly blessed having thirteen brother and sisters-in-law, twenty nieces and nephews, thirteen great nieces and nephews, loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. I was the luckiest man on earth when asked to be Godfather to niece Jessica Thuerrauch. When I first saw her, a twinkle magically appeared in my eye, and if you look up to the heavens at night, that twinkling you see is still there in my eye while I'm watching over and signaling to her.

I graduated from Bel Air High School in 1957. I served active duty in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1960, and U.S. Army Reserve from 1957 to 1963. I toured in Germany for two years, and was considered quite a gifted slide trombone player in the U.S. Army National Band and Jazz Band. I worked for Home Sales Company for over thirty-eight years until retiring in January, 2011. I made many life-long friends there. I have enjoyed many hobbies and sports, including bowling, fishing, roller speed skating, and dancing.

I bowled for five decades, and was inducted into the Cecil-Harford Counties Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 2006. I was a Certified Youth Bowling Instructor and Coach. I loved competitive roller speed skating and was the Tidewater State Champion in men's speed skating. I played football on semi-pro football leagues, and was a defensive lineman on the 1971 & 1972 championship Baltimore Metropolitan Flag Football League. I have been a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1952 since 1964, and a member of the Republican National Committee since 1985.

I passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 20, 2011, at home shortly after my 73rd birthday.

Donations can be made in my name to the American Cancer Society, 8219 Town Center Drive, Baltimore, MD 21236-0025 and include senders name and address.
